About me
Mi name is Santiago Siro Folcini and I was born y 1985 in the city of Buenos Aires, Argentina. From my childhood I traveled the country with my family every summer, and the landscapes in Argentina always left a strong impression in me. Extending from north to south for almost 4000 km, it has an enormous amount of places to see. From mountains to prairies, forests and deserts, including rivers, lakes, salt flats and glaciers, it is hard to find a landscape that is not represented here.
In 2008 I started to study photography in "Escuela de FotografĂa Creativa Andy Goldstein", where I stayed two years until I got the title of Photography Technician. I never finished the last year, but I did continue to take several independent classes in product and model lighting with the photographer Carlos Fumagalli.
Even though mi first interest in photography came from landscapes, living in a city forced me to do it only during my vacations every summer. That took me, with time, to discover another type of photography to practice. Sometimes abstract, others using geometry and almost always featuring light and reflections, I started to find new opportunities in the city.
That took me in 2009 to start a series called Autoreflejos,mi first personal project, which I developed for more that a year and I still continue although not constantly. It is about urban landscapes as seen reflected on cars around the city. In 2010 Autoreflejos was selected as the winner of the competition "Mi Primera Muestra", organized by the government of Buenos Aires, and was exposed for a month in the cultural center "Carlos Gardel".
During 2011 I worked as an assistant photographer for the studio Alvarez Nogueira, with the photographers Jorge Lopez and Fernando Alvarez, where I started to perfect different studio lighting techniques both with models and products.
Today I am living in the town of El Chalten, in the province of Santa Cruz, a small town in the Patagonia Argentina. I decided to leave the city and move here to be closer to the photography that I enjoy the most. Surrounded by mountains, forests, glaciers and rivers, this is one of the most beautiful places in Argentina, and a constant source of inspiration.
I consider photography as a way of expressing myself, to show the world that surrounds me and share it with others, a way of transmitting ideas, emotions and sensations. The content of this site is the result of that search, its a subjective view of the world that surrounds us.
If you wish to contact me you have several ways to do it in the contact section. I am always available for any question, suggestion or simply to talk a little about photography.
About the site
This site was developed by me as a way to showcase my photographs. Even though my work is also published in various sites like Flickr, 500px and DeviantArt, a site of my own allows me to use a more simple layout that concentrates on the photographs. From its beginning, 4 versions ago, the site has been improving in functionality and aesthetics, archiving today a result that I hope is attractive and simple to navigate.
Aside from the site, I also have a blog as a way to show the latest updates and give a little more information in parallel with the site. The idea is not to create another blog about new equipment, but about photography itself. With every new image I will try o show the decisions I took to get to that result, along with some technical information. You can visit it in www.iniclof.blogspot.com, and follow the RSS from here.
